    LHR - A Day at Heathrow 8/18/16 (Part 1)

    Hey Everyone,

Flickr uploads have been a slow going as hockey season starts up and keeps me busy most of the time I'm not at the real job. In any case, I've got about half the shots from Heathrow uploaded including a handful of new types and a bunch of new (to me) airlines. With the winds coming out of the east pretty strong all day, my girlfriend and I spent the entire time on the departures level of T5 and enjoyed a nice, though overcast day shooting at Heathrow. The day provided a chance to get excited about all sorts of small aircraft that I'd be less than excited about stateside.

Part two as well as some departure shots from the following day will be coming soon, then I'll finally be able to get around to uploading UN Week and another JFK trip. Thanks for looking!

Also, here's a few other random shots from the trip. Believe it or not, I did do something other than aviation photography, hard as it may be to believe based on what's been posted so far!

I lived in London for 3and a1/2 months in 1980, my flat was on the finals flight paths for the 27's at LHR , i did a lot of spotting from that rooftop, fond memories : )
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

Thanks guys, glad you like em! There's another half day still to come plus some more traditional British weather from departure day!

To catch so many new airlines and a few new types was a real treat, I just hope my next trip will give me the opportunity to shoot from a bit closer up on the east side of the field!

Thanks William! I still think the best stuff was the handful from departure day (at least from an angle/photography perspective). It felt so weird to keep getting excited about random 737s and A32Xs, but knowing most of them were stuff I hadn't seen before I was thrilled!
