    KJFK - 5/30/15: Whale Watching

After seeing Senga's shots of the new Asiana A380 service, I took a ride to JFK Saturday morning to catch it.

I also caught a couple of others...

I also filled in a bunch of B6 frames I've been missing.

When I got done at JFK, I took a run over to FBF to check out the C-97. They moved it out of the HARP Hangar recently - the hangar is undergoing repairs from Hurricane Sandy damage, and the Berlin Airlift folks plan to fly it out before long. The hangar is closed to the public during repairs, and this was a close as I could get to the C-97.

Love the Canarsie arrivals, and really love the C-97 !!!
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

What's the order of magnitude on the HARP hangar repairs - is it a 2-week job, 2 months, 2 years?

It's probably not going to happen quickly. They had a sign out front with a phone number for more info. I took a shot of it, and was planning to call during the week to see what they say. There was a fair amount of damage to the roof.

Moose ..... sorry we didn't get a chance to run into each other at JFK. I was at a different spotting location with Kaz, and Nigel from Toronto! Here are a few of mine for now. Still have plenty to go through. Safe travels.

This is the first summer we will have since the Jetblue terminal, ramp and Poles of death have been completed. I wonder how the planes will hold up under the heat haze and the APUs

Nice stuff, Mark! Love the vapor shots - I got there a little after Emirates arrived, I saw a little vapor on a few of my shots, but it was clearing up by the time I was out.
