NASCAR at Martinsville Speedway - March 2015

Last weekend I took a run up to Martinsville, VA for the NASCAR Truck and Sprint Cup Series races.

The truck race was Saturday. It was in the mid-30s and windy all day - just like spotting at Bayswater!

    Green flag!

Joey Logano and Matt Crafton racing for the lead.

Late in the race, Cole Custer in the 00 pushed his way past Crafton and Logano to take the lead. A couple of laps later, he learned a lesson about payback, short track style.

Logano makes it three wide on the final restart...

And leads the field to the checkered flag.

Back on Sunday for the Sprint Cup race...

For the second day in a row, Logano leads the field to the green flag.

Penske Racing teammates Logano and Brad Keselowski

Chase Elliott, son of former NASCAR champion Bill Elliott, made his Sprint Cup debut at Martinsville. He learned it's not as easy as it looks at this level.

In a battle of the beer cars, Keselowski makes a pass on Kevin Harvick.

The day went from bad to worse for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. After mechanical issues dropped him back in the field, he was caught up in this mess...

Keselowski and Denny Hamlin put on a spirited fight for the win in the closing laps, and Hamlin was able to hang on for the win.

You had some nice light to shoot in though! Great track coverage John. Did I hear recently that Junior is retiring soon?

Thank you! No, Junior hasn't said anything about retiring, however Jeff Gordon is retiring at the end of this season.

    Very Nice Moose!
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
