Thread: UN General Assembly Week - 2015

  1. #106
Question: After VIP traffic lands on 13R, do they turn around 180 deg. and backtrack along the taxiway to the south of the field? or do they taxi to the north (along 31R) and over to the triple hangars? Is there enough time to drive between 4R to 13R spots for photos if they're using both simultaneously?

I like the shadow of the winglet on the Kuwait 739. And when did the Czech come back on Sunday?

Unrelated, I found 4 VIPs that have remained at Kennedy - Ethiopian 763 on the Delta mx ramp, Qatar 345 up by Fedex, and then the Egypt 342 and Turkey 332 on the eastern edge of North Cargo (where Dynamic usually parks). [EDIT: Whoops, thanks Megatop - the Qatar 310 is also still by Terminal 8.]

0944: Brazil 319 (2101) showing on the ground at JFK.
1207: CEF02 (Czech) on final for 22L. Don't tell me I've missed that stupid Challenger for the third time this week...
1226: Amiri 1 (A345/A7-HHH) about to depart 13R [Err, it just departed around 1530, not at this 1230 time]
1246: And there goes the Brazil 319 (which was apparently at Islip). President Rousseff was the very first leader speech, and she didn't stick around very long at all. 37 leader speeches scheduled for today, and there will already be some exits by tonight.
    1436: Air China 744 (CCA17/B-2472) on final 13L
1510: Vietnam 772 in the descent for 13L, ETA 10 minutes.
    1511: BRS02 (assume the Brazil 190) departing
    1545: COTAM something (France F7X) final 22L
1554: the other COTAM 0014 (France F7X) final 22L. These were at HPN yesterday.
1601: Tarom 310 on final 13L. Went out and back to Andrews today.
1625: Russia IL-96 (RSD501/RA-96016) over Ocean County, ETA should be about 15 minutes. [Yikes, chronotons! It teleported to Sandy Hook and is now 5 minutes out for 13L)
1628: Mexico 752 out of McGuire and just landed EWR.
1634: Maybe UN, maybe not; A318 OE-LUX descending for EWR.
    1700: Iran 343 taxiing out to 13R
1717: And now another Russia IL-96 (RSD33/RA-96017) over Ocean County, ETA in about 15 minutes.
    1741: Chile 763 descending for 13L; ETA 10 minutes.
1800: Belarus also on the way back. On the deck in 10-12 minutes.
1801: Uganda on the way up the Jersey Shore. 15 minute ETA.
Wrapup: The Russia IL-76 from before came and went, and another Russia IL-96 RA-96021 also departed. Others in and out during the evening were Argentina 752 T-01 (missed this AARGH), Chile 763, Mali BBJ, Uganda G-V, Korea 744 10001, Belarus 763, and Air India 744 VT-ESO. The Qatar 310 also left.

I swung by the terminals on my way home and there were a couple Qatar jets remote parked, can't remember what terminal though. I think one of them was an A310 but there was too much traffic to get a good look

New for me was the Belarus B763 from 2 days ago. Probably one of the best looking 767s out there.

I just noticed the Venezuela A319 is all white now. (Based on Marks shot)
I got it it 2004 when it was in full colors. Not sure why they removed all the markings unless its a new frame.

Senga .... Excellent shot of the Belarus departing! I was trying to get her arriving that day, but a last minute RWY change ruined any chance.

Some other images I was able to finally process.

Nice work to those who have posted! I'll include my token SWF shots... Definitely the most crowded I've seen the ramp!

Because I couldn't find a rental car that wasn't way too expensive, I didn't try to spot at JFK when I had the afternoon off on Saturday, so I went off to Planeview to see if anything was going on at LGA.

However, I did see the departure of FAE-051, President Correa's Legacy 600:

and AF2 arriving (with VPOTUS and FLOTUS aboard, for the Global Citizen Festival), after I'd given up and was walking through Jackson Heights:

So are the VIPs drop off area on the NW corner of JFK as previous years? I would fly directly to JFK without renting a car so any of the spots to the south like Howard Beach, Bayswater, would not be feasible.

btw that nice Belarus is the former Turkmenistan 767 that used to come some years ago.

Depending how crowded the primary areas, they can only stage one aircraft in the NW area of the triple hangers. Some other areas have been utilized in the SW area of the field too.

Still angry about the Argentina last night.
    Today's speaker list here: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/un-70th-ge...9.html#DzpHey9
    Anyway...
0910: South Africa BBJ about to touch down.
    0910: El Al 33 (763/4X-EAK) enroute, ETA 2000.
0916: SX-RFA (752) came out of Stewart and is going to... LGA maybe?
1023: Hey, 22R is in use! Congrats to everyone involved in the project.
1036: SAM 28 (assume VC-25 82-8000) final 22L. [Note SAM callsign for operational mission, but not with the President aboard]
1135: Presidential helicopters leaving JFK for Downtown [1145: arrive JRB]. The White House schedule says wheels up for AF1 at 1325.
    1159: Cubana IL-96 departing 22R.
1221: South Africa BBJ departing 22R.
    1238: The heck? ANOTHER Russia IL-96 (RA-96018) final 22L.
HMX-1 helicopters departed Downtown at 1315.
    1401: Italy 319 (IAM9002) final 22L
1430: The Egypt 340 is pinging on the ground, so probably getting ready to go soon.
NWA, no Tupolevs so far this year, but we've had 6 different IL-96s, an IL-76, and a very rare Antonov 158. It's weirder that we haven't had any 727s.
1509: Nigeria BBJ (5N-FGT) over southern NJ; ETA 20 minutes.
1520: The stupidest person in the world is flying a drone by the Fedex building.
    1614: Mauritania BBJ on final.
1647: The Cuba An-158 is about to turn final for the 22s.
1701: The C-17 that picked up the limos is about to depart.
    1719: Arrividerci, Italy 319. Departing 22R.
1806: Looks like the Ecuador Legacy slipped out of LGA within the past hour.
1847: Mauritania and Nigeria both in the departure queue.
