    Contact has been lost with an Air Algerie flight between Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (OUA) and Algiers, Algeria (ALG).     One report says it crashed in Niger!! Not sure how accurate that is of course.

    Whether it crashed or landed, the flight is over, so "had" would be appropriate and I feel doesn't imply anything more than that.

    No confirmation of a crash yet, there hasn't been any wreckage sighted.
