Thread: KPHL Rare Visitors (ACTIVE)

  1. #61
I ran out this evening to hopefully get British Airways 67 and 69 arriving simultaneously. Since I have both registrations pictured, I decided to take video! I arrived just in time to see British Airways 67 arriving as a 772 with the coat of arms approaching. I got that, followed up by a US Airways A321 and a Delta MD-88 that decided to join the fray, but when British Airways 69 arrived (788, G-VDJD) my camera's battery died without warning so I just felt disgusted that I tried so hard for nothing so I just opened the battery door and slammed the batteries into a tree! So if your looking for my video, it wont be up just as a heads up! http://nycaviation.com/forum/images/...lies/frown.png

That's why you always carry a spare battery when out spotting!

I actually did but once the 787 appeared from the horizon my batteries (4 AA's) went dead and I didn't have time to even quickly replace them!

    Some highlights from Friday evening:

Lufthansa 426 reaching for runway 27R.

It’s a shame the new livery is so bland from the front. Although I do like that they put the ship number on the underside of the wing.

    UPD MD11 inbound from Louisville.

This brand new Mk6 Chinook for the RAF wears both a civil US reg and its RAF reg. Waiting to be transported to the UK via an An-124.

    I couldn't resist this shot:
    Small-Medium-Large!

FedEx inbound for runway 27R from MEM with some nice clouds behind.

The 2nd American West retro stopped by.

Brand new A321 delivered earlier this month.

A nice F2TH returning to its home base.

“Maryland One” made an appearance as an over-flight.

Dash 8 making a rare(ish) runway 27R arrival. They usually take runway 26 or 35.

Finally got an up-close shot of NKS with sharklets.

    “Free Bags Fly Here”

Arizona Cardinals, inbound from SEA. It was great to finally get a clean shot of this one!

    AWE830 from CLT cradling DLH427.

“Thunder” the Bison arriving from Punta Cana.

The first US Airways A321 in the new livery arriving near sunset.

The Mile High Club inbound at sunset. “Speedbird 69”

    A pink virgin.

I always take both spare batteries and memory cards, I just didn't have time to replace them and catch the 787 landing since the camera died when the 787 was right over Ft. Mifflin! What's your name on flickr, Kiffy?

Oh yeah, I published two sets last night! Enjoy!

I only use flickr to host my photos so I can easily upload them to other sites.
If you want to see more of my shots you can check them out of Airliners.net:

Kiffy, where were you? I was shooting with Joe O, at the top of Hog Island Rd and did not see anyone else out.
I have the same shots, and cant figure where you were sitting.

    Thursday morning:

    Swift Air 734, N802TJ

Qatar arriving in some metallic light.

FedEx climbing out to MEM with a high AOA.

A nice Challenger arriving on runway 35 with a US A320 departing.

    A shot I’ve wanted to get for a while…

These old gals are very close to retirement.

Ruslan arriving on runway 27L, I’m not sure why. It took about 30 minutes to taxi to Atlantic.
Arrived as VDA1701 from the Kennedy Space Center and will depart tonight as VDA1998 to Brize Norton with the RAF Chinook.

I was on the other side of the guardrail a little ways past the speed limit sign. It’s kind of a nice spot when it’s not flooded.

Nice shots Kiffy, I was hard pressed when I found out that the An-124 was coming while I was spotting at Newark! I might try to catch all of the remaining 734's on short notice! Oh yeah, the An-124 came in on 27L because it is a longer runway than 27R! Some more bad news that may spark a last minute BWI run for me:

Last time I saw Shamu, I foolishly stayed on the arrival side as I was awaiting a Lufthansa A346, so it's now or never for Shamu and the penguin one!

A bit delayed but here's a recap of some morning arrivals from Tuesday.

I went to get the new Southern Air/DHL 734 that so far has only come in the one day while the ABX 762 has come in the rest of the week. It was also nice to see the FC Barcelona special show up again.

Morning cargo arrivals beginning with the Southern Air 737 from CVG.

    UPS 763 arriving from CDG.

    UPS MD11 from CGN.

    FedEx MD11 frm MEM.

    Red-eye from LAX.

    Basic CHQ colors.

One of the newest E-170s for American with the new winglets, they look odd...

Rotating off runway 27L for ORD.

A nice bank, off to LHR.

Eagles jet soaring out to Bermuda.

FC Barcelona slowly climbing out for the direct flight to DOH.

    Departing back to ORD.

XB-MTG, a nice visitor from South of the boarder with "Los Portales" written on the side and a small coffee cup on the tail.

    A nice Cessna 750 departing 27L.

    Fire training.

Southern Air has ordered five 737-400s:

    N493SA

    N494SA

    N495SA

    N496SA

    N230PA

They're flying from CVG to PHL under the callsign "SOO587" scheduled to arrive around 5-6am but last week only came in the one day at 8am.
The departing flight is well after sunset.

Online trackers are very inconsistent with this fleet.
