4/23 and 4/24/2014, JFK 31R Arrivals; Planes that have tormented me, 747s and more

With apologies to Mark who I only recognized today, 4/24, as he was pulling away (sorry man; did not mean to be anti-social and not even wave or anything), I was at Costco for 31R arrivals last night and earlier today. Between last night and today I finally saw a few planes I NEVER manage to get a decent photo of:

    BOS5: I've only seen it frm a distance for 4R previously (4/23)
EIN 111: The Irish 75; first time I've seen it flying. (4/24)
EgyptAir: That sonofa.... refuses to come out well no matter what settings I have, whether I set the camera for autofocus or what (4/24)

There were also a handful of Go 'Rounds due to a centerline runway light that popped up out of its housing. The tower sent a few back around (although JAL4 just landed regardless), and sent everything to 31L for a bit.

I also saw more 747s than I've gotten to see in a while, which is always a treat given how they're being replaced by the Triple 7s, A380s and 787s.

Anyway, here's some of last night's highlights:

One of my white whales: Open Skies 5

Aer Lingus pulling up her gear to go around after a runway light popped up out of its housing

JAL4 landed on 31R despite the displaced runway light

I liked the glow from the lights on this one

    Shamrock 111, the Irish 75

EgyptAir: The plane that refuses focus and/or decent light, here with a departing JFK plane in the upper left

The plane that make me hurl

She came in at such a high AOA I thought she was going to go around, but she landed into some high gusts

Very nice pictures. The 757 is a beautiful looking plane, especially in Aer Lingus colors. It just looks awesome in green.
