Wait, is that a gorilla on a gurney?
It is! I do some work for the zoo from time to time and they needed a photographer for a surgical procedure done on their 400-pound silverback gorilla. Needless to say I'm pretty happy they had a good anesthesiologist. Didn't want the thing to go all Independence Day on us.

    Phil, from my recent post:
    1) Seattle. 2) Worker cleaning local statue/sculpture. 3) Headshot of my wife. 4) Sad football fan. 5) Seahawks losing. 6) See 5. 7) See 6. 8) Mariners winning the battle, losing the war. 9) See 8. 10) President of China Airlines poses for a photo in his new 77W. 11) Two-alarm fire in Fremont before anyone thought to kick me out. 12) Etihad 1st 787 roll out. 13) Air China 747-8 delivery. 14) Seahawks fan. 15) Owner of Seattle (Paul Allen). 16) Frog. 17) Local assembling Halloween decorations. 18) Guy in f***ing awesome pumpkin suit. 19) Newlyweds aboard RA001.

Busy month...lots of photos...some of (OK, a lot of...) the keepers (w/ captions for Phil): Washington State Governor Jay Inslee speaks at an election-night rally in Seattle in support of I-594, a gun control measure that closed the so-called 'gunshow loophole'. The measure passed.

Supporters of the I-594 gun control measure anxiously await as early returns pour in from across the state.

Cardinals' receiver John Brown drops a pass broken up by Seattle's Byron Maxwell at CenturyLink field in Seattle on November 23, 2014. Maxwell was called on the play for pass interference.

A service member steals a look at the big screen during pregame festivities at Century Link field in Seattle on November 23, 2014.

John Travolta, American actor, pilot, and ambassador for Australian flag-carrier Qantas, steps off of a Qantas 737 painted in retro-colors at a ceremony at Boeing Field on November 16, 2014.

Left: Woodland Park Zoo CEO and President Deborah Jensen announces that the zoo will close its elephant exhibit and program at a press conference at the zoo on November 19, 2014. Bamboo, a 47-year old Asian elephant seen here after the announcement (right), will be transferred along with the zoo's other elephant sometime after the spring of 2015. The zoo maintained that recent scrutiny and criticism of its elephant program did not play a part in the decision. The zoo has hosted elephants for over 90 years.

An employee locks up the Fremont Paseo sandwich restaurant for good on November 11, 2014. The restaurant, a long-time mainstay in the community and one of the most highly rated restaurants in America, abruptly shut its doors amid accusations of wage-theft and financial sketchiness.

A worker applies final touches of paint to the north side of the Fremont Bridge. The 97-year old span, which is touted as the busiest draw-bridge in the country, has been gradually receiving a new coat of paint since June of 2014.

Dallas defender Michel goes up for a header with Sounders midfield Osvaldo Alanso in the first half as the two teams battled in post-season play in Seattle on November 10, 2014.

Sounders FC player Obafemi Martins works the ball past FC Dallas defender Zach Lloyd's flying leap.

A visitor checks out the rear crew rest area on board ZA003, the first 787 to delivered to a Museum, at Seattle's Museum of Flight.

NY Giants receiver Preston Parker catches a six-yard pass for a touchdown in the first quarter at Century Link Field in Seattle, as the team faced off against the Seattle Seahawks on November 9, 2014.

Giants tight end Larry Donnell is denied a touch-down by Seattle safety Jeron Johnson in the first quarter.

A local woman reacts after being told by firefighters that her dog did not survive a house fire on the 4300 block of Bagley Ave N on November 24. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which fire officials said started in the kitchen. Unfortunately the dog was not so lucky, succumbing to the smoke.

Eleven-year old Ava enjoys a short sled ride, pushed along by her mother Caroline, at Gasworks Park in Seattle, WA on November 29, 2014. The region was blanketed in a thin coating of snow Friday night into Saturday morning, a rarity in the city.

And last but not least, a new selfie:

Been a little bit since I updated, and its been a busy/eventful past few months:

An artificial island rises up from the Persian Gulf outside Doha, Qatar:

Fabrice Bregier, CEO Airbus Commercial, speaks to reporters before formalizing the delivery of the company's first A350 aircraft in Toulouse, France:

Rob Peterson of Federal Way stands ready to part with his 53mm Argentine Mauser carbine at an anti-i594 protest in Olympia, WA on December 13, 2014. The protest aimed to sell firearms without the legally mandated background checks passed in November by the ballot measure. Peterson says he doubts he'll find a buyer for the weapon, adding "but that's not the point" of attending the rally. *Mr Peterson later successfully sold the gun.

Two lion cubs play around inside their enclosure at the Woodland Park Zoo:

Boats rest on a dock at the Center for Wooden Boats on Lake Union, just north of downtown Seattle:

A protestor glances out the window of a police van before being taken downtown for processing. The man, along with seven others, staged a sit-in on SR-99, blocking traffic for nearly two hours, to protest police abuses.

Fireworks streak across the New Years day sky from atop the Space Needle:

Hawks fans Megan and Jason Schiffner share a selfie-kiss atop the roof of Seattle's Space Needle on Friday, January 16, 2015. The couple won a Twitter contest to help hoist the 12th-man flag ahead the Hawks' NFC Championship game on Sunday.

Seattle Seahawks' wide receiver Jermaine Kearse launches a football into the stands after scoring the game-winning touchdown in overtime against the Green Bay Packers to secure the team's second consecutive Super Bowl berth:

Taking part in the annual MLK Day march, a man raises his hands and yelling "hands up!, don't shoot!"

And for the bizarre, a man awaits the next train on a Seattle Light Rail platform:
