    John F. Kennedy

Most of us here frequent JFK International Airport and we probably use the letters JFK the most. Do you ever think about the man that our local airport is named after. I thought I would just post the Wikipedia entry on John F Kennedy.

By the way Idlewild airport was renamed John F Kennedy International Airport on Dec 24th 1963

Eric, you're so sentimental but yes, I do think of it each time I am there or whenever I use the initials. Whenever anything related to space and NASA in general, I think of JFK and the famous words to put a man on the Moon.

My old High School is named John F. Kennedy High School.

Definitely thought of the historical event. When I was in Dallas a few times I visited Texas School Book Depository from where the shots were fired. It is very moving as well as the surrounding area. Highly recommend visiting the museum if you are ever in Dallas.

I was interviewing for graduate schools in 1997 and while in Dallas to visit UNT I made a stop at the book depository museum. Very somber experience. The place where they found Oswald's gun is roped off but you can look right at it and see through the window to the Plaza. I couldn't believe the history I was seeing, knowing how much it changed our society

Pretty interesting story about the pilot and AF1 on that fateful day and the days following!!
Amazing they had a FIFTY fighter jets flying in a V formation for the FlyBy then Air Force 1!!
I was 9 years old that day and the Principal of our school (St Ritas RC) in Queens came in to say the President had been shot, we were given early dismissal and told to go straight home!!
