Believe it or not last week, some lady at work was swooped down upon by a hawk attempting to kill two smaller birds. In her frantic effort to get back inside the building to avoid the scuffling birds, the hawk got wedged in between the door as she closed it behind her and its back was broken. I went out there and picked the hawk up. It was bleeding from its mouth and was taking short, quick breaths, looking around trying to figure out what was happening. It was the most beautiful creature I have ever held in my hands, it's sharp talons now lifeless, its wings immobile. It was very depressing. All I could do was carefully set it down in a bed of leaves nearby. Didn't have the stones to end its misery until I left for the day. By that time, the bird was gone, picked up by maintenance.
