Hey Guys,
Time for another installment from Texas. This weekend took me to Houston, and in particular, Ellington Field for the annual Wings Over Houston airshow. What a day! Awesome lineup of warbirds, and I honestly didn't miss the lack of fast jet teams or military statics whatsoever. As always, the light in the morning is beyond atrocious, but it improves steadily as the day goes on. That's enough chatter from me, time for photos:
These Apaches were sitting on the Army National Guard Ramp adjacent to the Warbird Hot ramp
As was this nice medevac helo
CGAS Houston is co-located at Ellington as well, so this flight came in early before the flying started as well
Sadly the light wasn't optimal when the Red Tail P-51 went up
I believe this is the character from the Disney movie...
The Tora Tora Tora performance was great as usual
They put tons of trainers up in the air
And then several theme-based waves of warbirds
Naval aviation
Check Six! (And yes, that is a real Zero, not the T-6 wannabe)
Then up went the bombers
And the CAF's flagship, Fifi
There was a MiG-17 too!
And I will end on the show's biggest "Holy Crap" moment, as Fifi's pilot made her do things I didn't think a B-29 could do
Hope you enjoyed!
Nick
