Looking for a place to test a new lens (fisheye) I headed to a nearby General Aviation airport that sees almost no activity. What began as a quick stop to eat my lunch and snap a couple pictures ended up being 6 hours. Only one plane was out flying around and so while I waited for her to return I found myself sucked into some old timey hanger talk with a local pilot. We talked for hours out on the ramp, watching as the sunlight faded away and the stars came out. At this point I decided to wait for the moon to come out so I could try a few fisheye pics of an old Piper archer that was rotting away in the grass behind the hanger. By the time midnight rolled around and I left GVE for home the air was heavy with moisture and dew all over the tall grass. There won't ever be any JetA burning at a field like this, but the quaint and cozy nature of a small GA airport like this has always left me satisfied. Glad I made the visit. Enjoy the pics.
Cheers from VA
