    The anti collision beacons on the 787 use LEDs for the light, rather than traditional strobes, so they do have different characteristics than strobes.

    Thanks. I also caught the red beacon in multiple exposures yesterday and today. Got me wondering if the 787 strobes are firing at a faster rate, or if it was just luck.
    They don't rotate like the beacon strobes, as Moose pointed out, but rather pulsate. The average "strobe" if you will is substantially longer than a traditional beacon...so catching the blinking beacon isn't too much of a challenge with the Dreamliner. It's easily timeable once you know about it!

    My 6-2-13 787 Arrival catches, along with a few bonuses. I think Eric and Don are my unofficial spotting good luck charms as I'd never gotten the KAC 777 or the Royal Jordanian before.
