As near as I could tell, because it was pretty bad, I think that was supposed to be to the tune of "Smooth Operator" by Sade. That song was on the charts in the US in 1985 - and we were riffing on it as "Boom Operator" around the Alert Facility back then. To this day, when that song comes on the radio, it's "He's a boom operator, boom operator..."

That is awesome! Everyone always seems to be more chatty when the boom's a girl, or come up a lot closer to the cockpit window when my co-pilot is one... Hmmmm weird...
