Solar-powered plane coming to JFK in June

NYT: Cross-Country Solar Plane Expedition Set for Takeoff

Short version: a solar-powered plane (with batteries to be able to fly at night) with the wingspan of a 747 will be embarking on a cross-country 'test flight' soon.

The key bit for us spotters:
The men plan stops in Phoenix, Dallas, St. Louis and Washington before a final landing at Kennedy Airport in New York around the end of June.

Coming from Solar Impulse directly, they are targeting arrival at JFK for early July. Of course this is all subject to change at this point as it is still c couple months away.

i hope they use the Canarsie approach :)
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

JFK sure does get some strange traffic. That thing would look insane coming in no matter what runway it takes!

Those long, thin wings look like they'll snap right off(I'm sure they won't)

I hope they decide to land on a weekend or July 4th - that would be spectacular. Does anyone have the N-number so we can track it?

It's Swiss identification number HB-SIA, but I'm not sure if it's trackable yet?
Solar Impulse landed in Phoenix early this morning and you can always get the
latest progress updates on it's "Across America" tour right on their website:
