Can't Get Photos off Card

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem retrieving some photos I took this afternoon. They're definitely on the card as it's showing as 50% full, but when I try to review the images on the camera it says the card is empty. When I put it in the card reader, I have one file with a load a symbols as the name.

Any thoughts on how to go about retrieving these photos?

Thanks for the link--I'll try this one out.

I had been running another program I found online called CardRescue--and it is finding photos--but they're all in TIF format, not RAW. Are those RAW files recoverable? And will whatever I retrieve be the same quality as photos that normally saved to the card?

EDIT: Can't use the one you suggested--I'm using a Mac.
