    KPVD 2-18-2013 jetBlue DirectTV

By the time 1:30 rolled around today I had already been at work for 8 hours, so I decided to high-tail it back home so I could grab my gear and then proceed to T.F Green for some late afternoon garage-top spotting. The traffic wasn't the greatest, but was nice to see a jetBlue special in town and see the United ORD-PVD flight upgraded to a 737-900 from the usual A320.

600mm was a bit much, but I fit her in the frame....barely

Miss shooting PVD...it was a good little airport. Not much happened, but still fun.

    Great set.

Steve..........awesome light! If that was the 300mm f/2.8 with the 2x converter and it's that sharp, then it's one heck of a killer combo! Also...........what ISO were you shooting at?

Do you have a sherpa to hold the lens steady for you?

Thanks for all the kind words guys! I really truly appreciate them.

William and Mark, yes it was the 300 f2.8 with the 2X tc. Well in most of the shots anyway. A few of the shots I used the 70-200 f2.8 with the 2x tc and I thik the shot with the SWA on the tug was just the 70-200 f2.8 by itself. And Mark, I was shotting at ISO 200.

John, I wish I had a sherpa holding that thing for me yesterday. I was getting blown all over the top level of the garage with that thing. NOT a fun lens to use when its really windy.

Thanks Rich. I generally don't get excited about PVD either, and really only went cause I knew with the winds kicking the way they were out of the west I would have all the action right in front of me.

That, and I couldn't make it anywhere else good after leaving the office and going home for my gear. From my office in Shelton, CT to my house in Griswold, CT, and then to PVD in 1 hour 47 mins. :)

Sergio, the traffic isn't the greatest, and I was lucky they were using runway 34. If they use 5-23, there aren't as many good shots from the garage. Weell, this year it's not bad, but to get stuff on 5-23 you need some reach and then you have to fight heat distortion while shooting over the terminal. Otherwise all you will get is SWA traffic pulling into their gates.

But regardless, if you ever wanna shoot PVD, let me know, I'll show ya around.
