    KBOS 2/7 IMAGE HEAVY!

Tried spotting with my new Canon 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6L today. Some of the photos turned out great!

These first few shots were taken from UMass Fallon Pier. I am a student at UMass Boston and I looked on FlightAware to see what I could catch between classes. At this spot, I can shoot the approach for 33L the best, 27 is doable, but not great. I can also get departures from 27 and 33L from this spot.

First thing I did was take a few "practice shots." Luckily I did because I left the ISO at 1600 back when I was shooting at night!

These are the first few that turned out OK. The sun angle made the reflection off the fuselage blinding in the photos

Then, JAL 8 (with a B777-200) from Tokyo Narita came around for an approach to 33L. Here's a few photos of that.

    American taking off from 27

British Airways 213 arrived with a B777-300ER from London Heathrow

    Another Air vs Sea shot

After catching British Airways, I went to my next class. After class, traffic started landing on the 4s, so these were taken from the UMass Boston waterfront in front of the Campus Center as it is a great place to catch them rotating. I realized that I had missed the Delta inbound from Amsterdam since I was in class.

And then came time for more heavies! (Continued on next post)

I was looking at Flightaware on my way to class and realized that Aer Lingus was due in. I ran outside between the Campus Center and Wheatley Hall and got these shots:

    And a fly-by

And that concludes my spotting trip today!

I love how it takes a 777 to replace a 787 ... love it... good stuff given the distance!

I'm not sure if it's temperature/heat/air distortion or if its the sensor on my camera. It's a standard sensor so I think it may have been the atmospheric conditions that caused the blur.

the temperature/heat/air distortion most likely caused the blur, and your distance from the subjects amplified it...but good stuff given the distance from it all!
