Planes of Fame Museum, Chino, CA. Image heavy...

I finally had some time to go through some photos from the summer. While on a family vacation in California, we spent some time at the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino.

I had seen some of their aircraft at air shows over the years and decided that when the opportunity arose, I would visit their museum. They have a wonderful collection of warbirds, many of which are in flyable condition. One of the highlights for me was the the only flying Mitsubishi Zero with the original Sakae engine. Also, they had a huge collection of model aircraft located in display cases in some of the hangars. You'll see them in the background of some of the photos.

They regularly fly aircraft from their collection and on the day we visited, they flew an Avenger and a Dauntless.

I wanted to share some of the photos, hope this is not too many...

    Bell P-39N Airacobra

    P-51A Mustang

    Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero

    Yak 3

    Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden

    Messerschmitt Me163 Komet

    Messerschmitt Ff109 awaiting restoration

    Heinkel He-162

    Focke Wulf Fw109D

    Mig 21R

    Gloster Meteor Mk.4

Distinctive gun ports on the F-86 Sabre

    F-100D Super Sabre

    F-86 Sabre

    North American FJ-3 Fury

    Douglas A-4L Skyhawk

    Republic RF-84K Thunderflash

Lockheed F-104G Ex German Air Force

The Lockheed P-38J Lightning had it's own hangar

It was undergoing an engine change at the time, beautiful plane though...

    Northrop Flying Wing N9MB

    North American B-25J Mitchell

In the restoration hangar, a Bell YP-59A Airacomet is being restored back to flight.
It was America's first jet aircraft... can't wait to see it fly

    Thanks for looking

Great Job on the Photos.... I enjoyed it
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
