SAAF C-47TP Crash in South Africa

The South African Air Force regularly uses their C-47 Turbo Prop conversion aircraft - they have been flying there for more years than I can remember - seems like some really bad weather in the mountainous region of South Africa caused one to crash - RIP to all the souls on board

The DC3 is the best airplane ever designed, hands down, a 75+ year old design still earning its keep flying pax (Buffalo),cargo (too many operators to list),aerial survey, military, etc. while its contemporaries are decades retired to museums the old Douglas soldiers on. I love this airplane, i earned my keep in them the first 10 years of my career, and have been blessed flying airshows in the old girl since '96, God's grace she will make it to her centenary and beyond. RIP to our S African brothers who flew west.
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

    Sad.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
