Alberchico....I think you are misinterpeting the map. Sandy is about 800 miles in diamteter. As Eric stated ..... "it's not missing anything"! Businesses in the HoBe area are boarding up, and have sand bags protecting them from water surges. To all .... stay safe!!!

Yup woke up this morning and flight was cancelled!! Not a big surprise!! Stranded in gorgeous Tucson till Thursday. Have a flight booked out of PHX then. Hopefully things will be muh better. Who knows!! Everyone stay safe up there in the NE/Mid-atlantic!!

Yet still will probably give us tides 6 feet higher than Irene if not more. Plus spots will be without power for up to 12 days.

    Not much of a miss.

well here in Oceanside there is already Water in the streets. It has not rained yet and the water is coming up through the sewers. Not exactly flooding but its the start of things to come.

Uhh...looks like that site is saying Cat 2 till just before it comes ashore, and it looks like it's poised for a near direct hit on Philly/South Jersey. I'm not a meteorologist, so I don't understand why it's going to take a left turn in the next 12 hours instead of continuing NNE like it is now. Guess it doesn't matter now haha

Just read that NYPD Aviation moved all their helicopters from Floyd Bennett Field up to Stewart Airport. Makes sense with the field being on Jamaica Bay. And a photo op for any spotters up there!!

It must be taken seriously as NYC Mayor Bloomberg closed the schools and the MTA shut the subways and ended above-ground service. Better safe than sorry. Hope everyone stays safe. I am thinking of walking outside later to get a newspaper but if the gusts are too strong; I'll head back. So far no rain in Brooklyn! The Full Moon I was anticipating, will only add to the High Tides; I live just slightly out of Zone A, where evacuations were ordered. My lights are flickering as I type this; hope we don't lose power.

As of 8:11am they're still some repositioning flights happening out of DCA... Must be really desperate to get the remaining planes off the ground as the weather has gotten pretty bad here!

Hey everyone. Not much of an event thus far, but it will be ramping up soon.
