shortest KYIP-KYIP ,probably .2 ,in the C47 , had to shutdown the No.1 engine after takeoff when the main bearing went, just feathered the prop,turned downwind,base,final and landed,that flight was just an extended checklist.
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

JFK-HKG/Shenzhen with UA way back when they flew this flight. Flight was about 15 hours and it seemed like it would never end. We actually landed in Shenzhen (which is right across the border from HKG) because they closed HKG due to a typhoon and we were running out of fuel. We were stuck in Shenzhen (on the plane!) for about 10 hours because we had two FAs from Taiwan and they technically would have been arrested if they got off on Mainland soil since they had Taiwanese passports. So the pilot wouldn’t let any of us out. All the while, we were waiting for a replacement crew, which apparently wasn’t allowed across the border from HK into China, so the pilot ended up taking off and flying to HKG anyways…in gale-force conditions.
