Newark Airport Day - this Saturday!

OK so I'm told this Saturday the 29th is the EWR Airport Day/ Kids day/ EWR birthday... whatever you call it.
Lots of free stuff including parking.
How many hot dogs can you eat? Come and find out!

    Saturday 29th.

    9AM to 3PM

Its always held at the North side, non FedEx cargo/United hanger area.

    On average:
Continental will have one wide body, 777 or 767-400, open for you to walk in, around and under. Sometimes they include a 737, 757 and or ERJ too.
Now under the United flag - got me - jokers wild.
FedEx should have a 727 or A300 for the same.
Expect to see some light aircraft and choppers. ( Varies greatly every year, could be 4 or 30 )

Food, drink, parking, shuttle bus, spotting, all free. At the show pick up a free parking voucher.
Lots of kid stuff, face painting trinkets and what not. Sometimes they have pony rides too.

P4 Parking station has been used for a number of years for the show.
This spot also connects to the free monorail.
Their should be signs in place for where to park as always.

Yes you can bring your camera and shoot your heart out.
It's amazing as you can stand right on the traffic cone outline tarmac and shoot next to PAPD throughout the show - but don't even think about it any other time!
The runways 22/4 are far from this spot but the less used 29/11 is in front of this.
A few times a Kalitta air Cargo 747 fires up and taxi out right next to us.

Their is also a "plane pull" competition going on too by law enforcement that aids special needs. Every year its been a 737. Last year I was in it. The pull that is, not the special needs but some may say differently!

Also you should make a stop at Building One. Check out the models, pictures and lobby of the first terminal. Plus you can make your way upstairs and visit America's first control tower!

This event has been re-branded over the years.
I was originally for EWR's birthday of Oct 1st. ( Nothing beat the 50th Anniversary show but that's a whole different story!)
Then they called it Airport Family Day or Airport Day.
It's open to the public but its not advertised.

** All info above is subject to change!

So just to be clear someone who is arriving by public transportation can take the AirTrain to the P4 stop and there will be a bus there to take them to the event location ?

Man this is great. A second airport kids day festival on Saturday and then the annual MTA bus fest the next day. Its gonna be a good weekend for transportation buffs

Gotta be honest if I didn't have something else to do Saturday I would love to go this, actually sounds pretty darn cool and fun, to bad the EWR show was not Saturday so they could have been combined, maybe will try and go next year and maybe UA will have a 787 to tour. Where is Speedbird1, this sounds like something he would really enjoy.

    Cheers

Thanks. It look like it might rain on Saturday. Is the event being held rain or shine ?

First I heard of this. Have no car. Hard to get to EWR by public transportation and get there on time. The bus runs I believe every hour. Bus from PABT leaves me off at a terminal. I guess I could ride the AirTrain to the Parking Lot P-4 and wait for a shuttle bus to the event. Is the event from 9- 3? By the time I get there, it is too late. Is this event held annually? I'll probably wait for next year. Wish JFK would have an Open House; they have plenty of unused space.
