    Your Thoughts on Instagram

Who here uses Instagram? What do you enjoy about it? What do you find are the benefits?

I uninstalled the app from my Android earlier today, as I found it to be a waste. I just don't know what the benefit is and I found it to add unnecessary complication and unwanted photo re-sizing for when I just want to snap a shot and add it to Facebook or Twitter.

    What do you think?

    I concur with Phil Derner.

I use it--it's a fun way to share photos of friends, what I'm doing, where I am, etc.

I don't use it for all photo sharing, however.

I'll admit I'm an Instagram newbie. I'm still playing around with it and having lots of fun being creative.

About a week ago a twitter friend of mine posted an image that blew my mind. I wrote to her asking how she did that and she said "its good to have Intragram"

Phil, if you take the photo within instagram you don't have re-crop it.
It's hard to take chances but sometimes it's better if you do

Jeremy, take the iPhone 4s for a spin. It's a very capable substitute for a p&s.

Instagram is a total waste. Not every picture has to have a ****ty filter applied to it. Also their TOU is almost identical to the terms that a.net employed a few years ago creating a mass exodus of photogs from the hobby. **** that noise.

All I've heard about it is that it's some kind of retouching app and that there was a lot of criticism about FB's decision to buy it.

I carry a flip phone because all I do is talk and text. Maybe some day I'll upgrade to 21st century phone tech haha

LOL me too. People make fun of my flip but I love it. Talk and text and I can access email from it. And I take some fun pics wth it. I dont need anything else.
Funny that my kids tell me to get a better phone but they are the ones that take my upgrade all the time! DOH!!!!

I absolutely hate when people ruin an otherwise good picture with a terrible "retro" filter. Heck, there is an app now that does nothing but remove the filters.
That said, I occasionally use a filter if lighting conditions are odd, as it's an easy way to fix a bad photo.
Instagram, for me, is just an app that makes sharing a photo between Twitter and Facebook, and can also check me on on Foursquare.
Follow me on Twitter and friend me on Facebook.

If I use Instagram, it is with the intention of using a filter, o0therwise, what's the point? The App was intended from day one to be just that... and not a way to share regular pictures. There are likely 100,001 apps for photography in the app store, no need to use Instagram... but if social is what you're looking for, it has no competition!
