We were up on the East Daily deck, $1 for the first hour.

It was a "heavy" afternoon at KCLT today.

"Caution, wake turbulence behind the departing Cessna..."

It was like a Hitchcock movie out there. Of course, the Dash-8 does have to worry about bird strikes from the rear.

You know you've been out spottting for a while when you catch the same airplane arriving and then departing again...

I was out there this weekend. Got all of the planes in your pictures except Lufthansa and the 737 departing. Great shots.

The next time you're out there, if you see a guy with a big white lens and an Air Force hat, come introduce yourself!

Great stuff Moose! Hope all is well down there...........looks like pretty good action down at CLT from time to time. Keep taking those extended lunch breaks :) I would like to do the same up here but the weather has been less than favorable.

Just saw this--I agree with Moose, it really doesn't matter what time of year; however, the summer is slightly better for two main reasons: First, LH uses an A340-600 on the MUC route, and second, the 6:00 PM hour offers great traffic with a cargo flight or two thrown in, so it is some much needed variety.

I forgot to post my shots from when we saw the Rockets' charter! Just two for me from that day:

You know you've been out for a while when you catch the same airplane departing and then arriving again! This wasn't especially uncommon at National, where you'd see Shuttle flights on both ends of a DCA-LGA-DCA turn, or see some of the shorter RJ flights (ORF, PIT..) go out and come back.

Amazing! How easy is it to spot at CLT? Can you walk to the spotting areas from the terminal?

It's probably a mile and a half to two miles from the main terminal to the spotting area - you have to loop up and around the approach end of 18C...

Thanks! I think I will make a day trip in two weeks when I'm off work again.
