Miami International Airport Ramp Tour! 8-9-12

Yesterday, I got a special, all access tour of the ramp at MIA. Met a lot of cool people at the airport, all of whom love their job. Even met an employee who is quite the spotter. In fact, you've probably seen his work on Airliners. Anyway, here is a select few, with the full set on my public Facebook album:

    Please, have a look- https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=0dddb7c59c

Not sure what happened here. Landed at MIA On August 2nd.

Jason.......awesome stuff! Make sure you make connections. The 727 shots are sweet especially the AmeriJet and the cargo stuff is outstanding.

Congo 707 is still here Manny - it might have been in the hangar - it has been in and out of the hangar quite a lot of late. Lucky man Jason to get that access!! Yuo should come down for the ramp tour in January - we do both FLL and MIA - awesome time!!

Thanks everyone! It was quite the experience. Everyone at MIA was super cool, I wish I could say the same about JFK. I was told about the Congo 707, but we weren't able to find it. :-(
That was my first time spotting at MIA, too. On my way there, I passed a Star Alliance Unites 737 at FLL, always a good sign.
    Have fun in January!

Nice! I left MIA yesterday for the weekend (UA1186, left 3.5 hours late at 8pm so I doubt you caught us), but I would have been so jealous of you had I seen you on the ramp!

The cargo 747-200 with the black speed tape on it arrived on August 2, left on August 3, arrived August 4, left August 4 (I have a shot of its take-off) and then came back and parked up by building 5A where you saw it. It is ex-Saudi, operating for Southern Air. The tail is the most interesting part. To keep the rudder balanced, they didn't repaint the tail, and the Saudi logo is still there. However, on the main part of the stabilizer, they covered the palm in black speed tape. Looks funky.

Yea I missed you. I was only there from about 12-4.
That Saudi 747 looks so funny. I had assumed it was damaged somehow, and they were covering up the logo like you usually see.

I once went to the miami ramp tour back in 2001. It was a great experiance. It was fun being next to Arrow L-1011s also seeing many many old 3 holers there. Great shots Jason. That Saudi is interesting though. I got a few shots of that same bird in the old SA colors and NCA colors. And I enjoyed your shots of the MD-11s

Thanks! Love those 3-holers. I was really hoping to spot a KLM MD-11, but no such luck.
