    Canon 75-300mm IS v. 70-300 IS (non-L)

Anyone using either the Canon 75-300 IS or the black 70-300 IS?

I'm looking for something stabilized to replace my cheap 75-300. I've heard that the 70-300 is a good lens and the 75 isn't, but I wanted to get some feedback from some people who have used both. I need the lens primarily for through-the-fence shooting, so the 70-3 L wouldn't work for me.

    Any thoughts?

I have the 70-300 USM, bought it to travel with because of its compact size. Good lens, short and fat but slow focus motor. I would say... not fence friendly.

The 70-300 was my 1st lens when I got into the hobby. The results are pretty good for the cost of the lens

Here are some shots I took with it with a XS body
