    From The Back Deck

Similar to TJK's 'spotting from home' thread is this one, shots taken from my balcony with a great view of 27R approaches into Philly using a Sigma 150-500mm(one reason I bought it for) and cleaned up as best I can. Not trying for anet standards here, just enjoying the convenience of editing shots within minutes of taking them.

We get some interesting traffic in here at times, like the Super Guppy, 787, FAA Convair 580, An-124's, F-18's, C-130's, and C-17's as well as AF1. Planes are pretty much on finals or turning onto finals when they pass over, some lower than normal which makes for great shots(if I'm in position). My house also seems to be under some helo routes which is a bonus. Not as close as being on Hog Island Rd of course but saves the $5 toll to get over to PHL haha. Mark let me know when I can borrow that 500mm from you for a little bit

Some from the last few days to start:

UAE C-17, although you can barely make that out due to the heat and the angle

these are from this morning, lighting/sun angle was crap:

And finally, one I've been after for a while now- callsign is "Cappy":

Nice catch on the Cappy 727 and the UPS MD-11. I've read some nice review about the Bigma 150-500mm. My wish is to have one lens from 11-2400mm .... LoL

The title of this thread made me think it was a collection of shots out the back of a C-17 or C-130...the first photo didn't help this. haha

Phil, I would be happy to begin such a thread. Because that would mean that I have been granted access to such a situation, preferably for an air to air shoot.

    And now, back to reality....

First day of sun in a week! Stepped out back for a few minutes.

Miami Air 737-400, callsign "Biscayne". Unfortunately, this was the ONLY jet to go almost directly over the house, I was so p.o.'ed. Even using center weighted metering the whole bottom of the airplane was dark. Raised the darks on the curves which of course beat the hell out of the colors and details. Oh well next time.

I never thought winglets could look this good on a 757

    enroute to jfk?

    from Barcelona

Deck is currently being rebuilt to a new, more kick*ss version. So I walked down to the Walmart parking lot this morning. Never thought I would catch this at PHL- having a good week with the US specials

See you at the race this weekend!
