Mets/Philiies - 7/3/2012 Fireworks Night at Citi Field

I went to Citi Field for the Mets/Phillies game last night. It's an annual event, I meet up with a group of friends for a little pre-game tailgating, attend the game, watch the fireworks, then a late BBQ while traffic clears. We were in the upper deck (I think they call it the "Promenade" now) in the left field corner.

    Lucas Duda at bat.

Josh Thole avoids the tag and scores in the 4th Inning

The wide view from my seat.

The fireworks shots were shot without a tripod - sitting in my seat, I rested the camera on my thigh, and used the 2-second timer to trip the shutter. The shots were 3-4 seconds each.

Very nice shots, Does Citifield have a camera policy and how did you get a tripod in? I would love to take pics at the game but worried I couldn't get in with my camera.

There's no problem with cameras at Citi Field - I brought my 40D and 100-400mm lens, plus a wide lens. I have a smaller camera bag, big enough to fit those plus a few other things. They do check your bag, but they've never said anything about the camera. I didn't use a tripod - for the fireworks shots, I rested the camera on my leg and used the self-timer to trip the shutter, and everything else was handheld.

Nice (: Do you have to have a press pass to get in those seats?

No, Lucas, those were the $15 upper deck seats, anyone can get them. The Canon 100-400 and a little cropping was all I used for the shots of the game.

Only problem with these shots- they capture a loss by the Phillies

    Love the wide shot Moose!
