    NAS Oceana Base Visit

I got to visit NAS Oceana a couple of weeks back and I would like to share some photos from that day.

    There was a lot of flight activity involving VFA-87, VFA-213, VFA-105, VFA-15, VMFA-312 and VFC-12.

I must say it was impressive to witness the pride and professionalism of the base personnel as they
    performed their activities.

    The VFA-31 line

    Final checks prior to departure

A pair of aggressors, VFA-37 and VMFA-312 Hornets ready to depart

Two Black Lions Hornets about to break to land

    Swordsmen XO jet

    VFA-105 Gunslingers CAG jet

VFC-12 Aggressors - one still in the CONA paint scheme

VMFA-132 Checkerboards Hornet from MCAS Beaufort

This VFA-87 Hornet was recently swapped from VFC-12 but still retains the aggressor paint for now

    Grumman G-159 Gulfstream G-I

    E2-C Hawkeye from VAW-120

    VFA-15 Hornet Carrier break

The VFA-213 Black Lions Ordnance and Line Shacks

    Thanks for looking

    Isaac

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

LOVE the photos! Oceana is one of the most photo-friendly bases during normal operations. I was supposed to do a trip down that way in July but that got cancelled because of work, but my trip in September for the airshow down there is a go.

Did you have a chance to visit the Officer's Club? There is a LOT of history in there... every year for the airshow it is opened up to the public after the Friday night show and I just love walking through checking everything out looking for something new...

    Thanks guys!

Steve, I did not go to the O Club on this visit, but I have been previously. I do agree, it is an awesome place.

Manny, it was a special invite

Seriously amazing photos. I'd think about giving up a kidney to get a special invite like that. Awesome.

FYI your caption of "Black Lions XO jet" is really the Swordsmen XO jet...

The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
