Anybody planning to go see the 747-8 come into dulles on the inaugural?

Im just wondering. And what are some good spots to get good views other than Udvar hazy center. I'd rather not wait in line to go up and see, especially as I have school that day, and I dont want to miss it.

Its coming in as the noon time slot is what I have read. I will be up there most likely if they look to be on the 1's.

As for other places to shoot, perhaps somewhere off of Route 50...

They are taking 418/419's slot, but it has been said that for the Inaugural flight on June 1st, they will be arriving in the noon time slot. I will try and find the source for that, but it was either over on airliners.net or from someone in the washbalt spotters group.

Well... Take lots of pictures. I guess I'll be seeing it the next day.

I can confirm that D-ABYA will arrive as LH416 with an ETA of 12:45pm. The aircraft will then depart as LH419 at 17:55. She will be parked at gate B45/B47.

Can you confirm whether or not she'll use runway 1R for departure if the 1's are active
I get so bummed every time the 744 takes 30 for departure.

    A 747-8i on a 1R departure would be phenomenal.

More often then not I've seen LH419 use 1R when the 1's are in use, however we won't know until the day of. If I hear anything I will post an update.

They actually take the 30? Personally, I like when 1R is used for landings, because then I can actually see them from my house, but if 1R is used for departures that day, I wouldnt mind going up 50 to see them if I could get out of school.

My sample size of 2 visits included 2 runway 30 departures for the DLH 747.
