Virgin America doing proving runs between California and Hawaii.

Today I did a round trip between HNL and SFO. On the way to SFO, we heard the "Redwood" callsign (Virgin America) on one of the westbound tracks doing ETOPS proving runs to Hawaii with the FAA onboard. Very nice. Just found an ETOPS program manager job listing they posted in March, I guess they found one.

I wonder how soon they'll actually fly to Hawaii. They'll need to take delivery of some more airplanes first, unless they drop another route.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
