    KJFK - 05/06/2012 (Qantas 747)

Didn't get to do any spotting because of a family related function, but when I got home I tuned into the tower to see what runway Qantas was going to depart from. I was fortunate that Qantas departed off RWY 31L at KE and flew the runway heading before making its turn. The shots below were taken from the front of the house.

It was great to see some of the boys today... Eric, Dennis, Jason, Enxian, David...
I got to the field around 11:00am in hopes the clouds and fog would have rolled off by then. It was starting to break but it hung around a lot longer than I desired. JFK was on the 4s exclusively in the morning, closing RWY 4R for a while due to some incident (unknown) and then reopened shortly around mid-day when they switched to a 22/13 split. They closed the day with 22s exclusively. I stayed right until the sun went down. Here are some of mine not already covered above :-)

    Had no clue

    Dragon

Some blue starts to appear above

    22L action

    Dedicated to Cary!

    and after everyone else left...

New colors never seems to come in when I am there...

and the sun disappears... this seems like a brand new plane which is not typical for ABX at JFK

Ooops, I forgot my shot of QFA107

Taken with my iPhone while shooting with the regular camera. Missed a few shots in the process but, oh well, I needed it for my social media ego boost! LOL

Thus far these first Qantas 747's departed off 31L (Kilo-Echo) while they were using the 22s. Eric, any idea how many specials schemes on the 747s? I think this may be the only one.....unless the Wallabies scheme is still around.
