Correction (since it is my last name)

DDG 66 is the "USS Gonzalez" not Gonzales

    Thanks for all the info...

Sorry about that Manny, I copied it directly from the Fleet Week Website and it was misspelled there. Anyway, I just corrected the spelling !!
BTW, FYI- the Fleet Week website schedule also has the wrong dates posted for Friday thru Tues. but I corrected the dates before I posted it here.

Any idea what the "aviation events" are? Such as the following:

    Sunday, 27 May
"2 p.m. USMC aviation event @ Playland Park, Rye, NY"

They haven't posted the exact aircraft the Marines will be using this year, but the last couple of years they usually brought an AH-1 Cobra, a CH-46 Sea Knight, and at least one MV-22 Osprey to most of the scheduled event sites.

If it says USN event it will probably be an EOD Demo like this one from last year

If it says USMC then you will get at least a Cobra, and a Sea Knight with the possiblity of an Osprey

Will there be aircraft flying up the river during the parade of ships?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I sure hope so... plan to be on the roof at the office (near GWB) expecting some action ;-) The last couple of years, the ships are turning back around 125th St. but in years before that, they would come all the way to GWB and sometimes even the Cloisters!

There is supposed to be flyover by the Blue Angels during the Parade of Ships in addition to some other miltary aircraft to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812

    Fleet Week USMC aviation events

Does anybody know if the Marines will be using a V-22 again this year for the air power demos? I'm thinking of coming up to the Staten Island event on Memorial Day (closet to Philly) but only if there's a V-22.

FYI- Keep an eye on the NYC Fleet Week link below and click on the "Press Releases" Tab for the latest info. I contacted the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Public Affairs Office today and they said there should be more official info about the US NAVY & USMC Air & Land Demos posted over the next few days.
