Same here. I was very lucky with the timing of the arrival. The original Monday date was a no go as i was out of town. The Wed date was also no good as I had two meetings in work that morning!!
Since it arrived at JFK I wanting to go over there but kept putting it off. Saturday I drove my wife into Manhattan (originally to be Forest Hills but that's another story, LOL) then made my way at a relaxed pace from the Upper East Side to JFK with a brief stop at Broad Channel to stretch my legs and use the Porto Potty which is in danger of either tipping over or to be consumed by the sand!!
Now we wait for its trip to the Intrepid. Hopefully that isnt done in the middle of the night either.

if anyone here is on flickr, add "nasa hq photo" as a contact to see thier pix of the demate of enterprise.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

and any of you guys that are coming out for the Enterprise move to the intrepid, you're going have a few opportunities as it will take up to 3 days for the move to happen. Enterprise will be headed to New Jersey first where it will be transfered to another barge and then on to Intrepid this according to the guys at NASA.

Did they lift the shuttle and then pull the SCA out from under it?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Matt......they lifted the shuttle up enough so that it cleared the SCA and then they pushed back the SCA. Then they lowered her to the flatbed cradle. They did not lower the landing gear. Eric videoed it.......it was a long night/morning.

They can't lower the landing gear as it will make the shuttle to tall to fit under one of the bridges they will be traveling under by barge

Here are a few more. FYI - According to one of the NASA workers, when the orbiter gets moved and placed on a barge it will be going to New Jersey, once in NJ it will get transfered to another barge with a crane before it makes it way to the Intrepid.

Not really sure, but there are rumblings of the 1st week of June (I heard the 6th, but unconfirmed). Also, unconfirmed and rumblings is that the SCA may depart on Friday (they need to bring the flight crew, etc.). I honestly wouldn't hang on hat on any of this stuff, considering that they detached the shuttle this morning. Weather is a key factor.

Eyewitness New states on their website:"The next step will come June 6th, when the Enterprise is moved onto a tugboat and carried around New York Harbor to the Intrepid".

Based on the above, I have a feeling it will be moving out of JFK earlier.
