    Quonset Air Museum

Since its only about 20 miles from my house, I decided today to take a drive over to the Quonset Air Museum at the former NAS Quonset Point. They have an interesting collection or aircraft. I only got shot of a few of the aircraft that were parked outside today as inside it was a bit cramped. They usually have most of their collection outside, and I was told that they will be bringing some exhibits back outside soon, so I will be adding to this thread over the next few weeks.

Here is what I got today....

I would definitely recommend stopping in for a visit if ever in the area. It may not be big, but there is a good amount of history inside that hangar. I am hoping that on my next trip I can get some shots of the Avenger, Hellcat, Phantom, and of course....the Tomcat.

Wow, I could really have some fun there! Nice aircraft... All of them!
The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".

Great shots Steve, and it's good to see the construction of Quonset's new Tower is almost done too The Quonset Air Museum has a really great collection and I always look forward to seeing alot of their aircraft on display at their annual Air Show up there also ... especially getting to sit in their Tomcat!!

nice work Steve! shame you didn't get the sherpas =P. We drove by that place a couple times when I was up there in the fall but they didn't have anything outside except for (if i remember correctly) the carcass of an F-4. If we make it up there again it'll definitely be on my list of places to see!

    Nice planes and pictures.

I remember seeing their Tomcat as a static display at last year's air show. I searched my pictures and found I did take some snapshots of it.
