    JFK 2/3/2012

Made my way to Howard Beach today on a crisp morning. It was my first spotting outing since September of last year. Met Moose a few minutes after I got there and we enjoyed some 31L departures.
    Here are the highlights:

A rare sight in the near future:

Finally caught the Korean Air A388:

    My favorite of the day:
Aspires to become an Air Traffic Controller at Kennedy Tower.

Nice work Luke.......I'll post some of mine from today shortly. I was at Bayswater, Costco and the ended the day at the mounds with Nick, Moose, and Eric! It was a fantastic day, and the light was awesome all day.

Korean Air A380 passing right above Bayswater as she get ready for her approach for 4R

Looks like she had a light load or no load at all

After a short takeoff, Evergreen banks nicely

    Finally caught HL7615

    On final for 31L

    Finally got this Emirates

Swiss with new larger titles (thanks Manny.....I kept a watchful eye)

    Good call Eric!!!

A very nice day today for spotting! Good to see Luke, Eric, Mark, and Nick today. A bunch of specials today, and an unusually large number of biz jets. Interesting discovery at The Mounds - I'm liking that new angle!

A340s don't climb - they get up into ground effect, then rely on the curvature of the earth...

Two for the price of one!

Did I mention I really like the new angle at The Mounds?

Maybe a silly question - but after dinner, I swung by JFK again, and saw another Korean A380 at T1. Didn't get squat for usable photos, but there was HL7611 at the gate, so I know it wasn't the afternoon flight that returned. Looking at their web site, it shows the night flight as a B777. Was this a sub, or have they switched to a second A380 on a regular basis?

Looks like they have been using on the route on occasion.

    Thanks, Nick!

One of the interesting things from today...on this Atlas 744F, N492MC, there is a decal on the forward fuselage reading "Operated by Atlas Air Inc on behalf of Qantas Airways Ltd"

Moose, it's a pretty regular flight... usually arrives in the morning when it does come. It is always listed twice in Flightaware... once with a Qantas flight number and then a few minutes later with the GTI flight number.
