    Photos from Aviation Nation 11/12 - 11/13/2011

Here are some photos I took at Aviation Nation 2011 at Nellis AFB. It turned out to be a great show with a couple of firsts for me. Namely, the use of flares during the Close Air Support Mission Demonstration and the presence of a B-2 on static display. (We also had a B-2 flyover which technically meant there were two at the show... hehehe)

Also good to see a C-17 demo again and it was great to see the B-1B burner pass, although more than one pass would have been nice.

With the B-2 being backlit I decided to try an HDR:

    Flares:

    B1-B recovering:

    A-10 low pass:

    Mitsubishi Zero:

F-15E with what appears to be a fuel leak:

Departing for Close Air Support Demo:

Mig 15 and F-86 after their dogfight demo:

Low pass by one of the Patriot L-39s:

C-17 - "Spirit of Ronald Reagan"

    Heritage Flight:

    A new aggressor paint scheme:

    Always enjoy seeing a Phantom:

    B-52 departing:

    Hind helicopter on display:

    Thanks for looking

    Isaac

These are terrific, Isaac! Really nice work! Did you run into any of the AAM contingent out there?

Looks like I picked wrong year to see Nellis show... last year show was worst than terrible. It was a joke.... this year looks like a not bad air show with some good stuf in the air. After such a bad experience from Nellis I decided to go to Florida to see BAs Homecoming :)

Great A-10 shot and B1 Touch Down !

This may be the last year for Nellis, talks is with budget cuts it may go to every other year now. Personally I would rather see them cut another show's funding to fund Aviation Nation as it is the Thunderbirds homecoming.

    where'd the hind come from?
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Nicely done HDR on #2 B-2 Isaac. Also loving the BUFF and the Mig-15 / F-86 combo platter.

    Awesome shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I don't know for sure on this one, but the Army owns a few for adversary training.
