DALLAS, TX — (November 11, 2011) — AirTran Airways, a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV), told its Employees today that its operations will cease in June 2012 at the following airports: Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS), Miami International (MIA), Central Illinois Regional Airport/Bloomington/Normal, Ill. (BMI), Charleston’s Yeager Airport in West Virginia (CRW), and Dulles International (IAD). The Southwest Airlines operations at IAD will continue unaffected.

Rumor has been going around WN will announce MIA with their own metal and add IAD-ATL to return the market, but with BWI and DCA in WN's backyard it could be unlikely.

Air Tran will exit Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport on November 21st, 2011.
