Damn that KE is sweet Eric...

Went out with my daughter today to Costco and Bed Bath and Beyond for some quick shopping and the wife allowed me two specials China Eastern Skyteam and Cathay "Asia's World City" Green c/s. After catching them from Panera, went over to meet with Eric at HoBe and catch a few departures... all I have for now is the LH401 Super made out of Liquidmetal

The winds today were fierce. JFK decided to stay on the 31s even though the wind at times was at almost 220 deg (favoring the 22s) so we had serious crabbing all the way down to the RWY. If you are familiar with Panera approaches to 31R, you know you never see the right side of the plane

I wish I had video... planes were literally almost 45 deg to the runway, sliding sideways all the way and fighting the gusts!

Looking good gentlemen. Unfortunately I had to do some stuff with my niece. I did get a chance to go to Jones Beach for a tad. Will try to post some stuff if it's useful. I wish I had a 800mm lens....the aircraft were way too far from the shore.

This may sound like a dumb question but do the a380s only use 31L?

If they are landing on the 31s they do - there are obstacles on the ground that prevent them from using 31R. They can use the other runways, however - I've shot them landing 22L, 4R, and I think someone has seen them land on 13L.

They can use any runway... but as Moose said, the fear is the end of 31R start of 13L... if the A380 has to roll to the very end, it supposedly can't turn without hitting some ILS tower or something to that affect. I say supposedly because I see no reason it has to go roll all the way to the end. The A380 can stop way sooner than that and besides, if it had to in an emergency, well, it would be an emergency... just flip her 180deg on the rwy. I also think they can easily tunr right and use txwy Charlie... but what do I know.

So yes, all runways have been used. I have seen them land on 22L/R, 31L, 4L/R, 13L/R...

    Nice stuff guys.

Great run in with Phil, Moose and Eric.

PS- the Delta 747 just gives me a major retro rush, so cool to see the Delta name on a 747 again!
