I passed thru HKG on my way to Shanghai. HKG boast a observation deck on top of its Terminal 2. It offers good view for both runways. HKG normally uses 25R for landing and 25L for take off. The view for 25R is good till about 3 pm. The day I was there it was the typical tropical weather -- 90 plus temperature and 90% humidity. Therefore, the photo quality wasn't the best I can get. However, for a visitor like me, it's still very exciting.
The day I was there, there were 2 additional spotters, another photographer from Australia and a registration spotter from the UK. We had the entire floor to ourselves. For some reason the fire alarm was triggered while we were there (definitely not by us). We were even thinking about leaving, but decided to stay. After a while the alarm stopped and a gentleman in suits (authority figure) appeared. Instead of interrogate us for the fire alarm, assured us that the fire alarm was an accident and asked to carry on and enjoy ourselves. What a nice touch to a exciting spotting adventure.
Here are the photos taken from inside the terminal:
Dragon Air has more than one aircrafts participating in the "Serving You for 25 years" ad campaign celebrating its 25th anniversary. One A-330 was painted in a full livery. One A-321 and another A-330 only have small decor on the fuselage.
Hong Kong Airlines is the 3rd local airline. Its parent is the Chinese HNG, which owns the Hainan Airlines. Thus its tail decoration looks very similar to Hainan's.
The rest of the photos 25R landing shots taken from the observation deck.
