    Tracking Hurricane Irene

The latest computer models have Hurricane Irene approaching south Jersey as a hurricane, with at least one forecasting her retaining category 2 strength as she nears L.I.

Sad I'm going to miss it. Anyone prepping yet?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

I guess Irene is falling off the front page now!

The five day forecasts are only accurate to about 250 miles, but as of now they seem to be agreeing on a direct hit on NYC and/or LI Sunday.

Put away all the outdoor items this morning (chairs, umbrellas, loose garden items, etc). Next couple of days I'm really busy, so I may be over acting, but, at least I'll be ready if it does hit. Hopefully it goes out to sea and the work was for naught.

Looks like the forecast shifted east last night. Hopefully it keeps doing that over the next few days.

Figure I'll get gas and stuff for the chain saw and like john, get all the loose items (deck furnature, bbq, etc) out of the yard. Then gas up the truck so I can head out to the coast on Sunday afternoon to get some coastal photographs of the rough surf coming in.

That, water, flashlights, batteries, some canned food. But pending hurricane or not, everyone should have these items to begin with just in case.

The beer is in the left hand ALWAYS, while you're purchasing the other items.

Nice. And remember to have all your cells/Blackberries/Iphones etc FULLY CHARGED!! And your scanner is pretty important to have fully ready to go also.
I also have a nice portable DVD player that will be ready to entertain me.
Full propane tank and ice for the cooler (for not only beer ).
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

I'm very concerned by the path of this storm. Latest forecast has this if it hits us hitting us as a Cat 2. This is one on thing in life that truly scares me. I really hope it passes well east of us. In any event if it doesn't I hope everyone in its path stays safe.
