    KALB - 8/12 Sunset 8/13 Sunrise

Did a quick trek up to Albany this past weekend, to pick up a family member, and was able to spend a half hour at the airport Friday night and an hour on Saturday morning.

    A few surprises...at least for me. :)

Awesome stuff John! I love spotting at Albany! Where were you to get that first pic? I am guessing they were using Runway 1?

Steve, for shot #1, I parked in the Eclipse Aviation lot (7pm Friday night, it was empty), went up to Millionair's fence, hit the shutter for a 5 shot burst. Got back in the car and left. I did not want to ruin a good thing for anyone, and honestly, if it wasn't for the fact it was such a rarity (LX-reggie) I probably would not have stopped there. All the other shots were runway 1 ops. I did get an okay shot of the Dash 8 departing, but it was at 5:54am, and not too sharp, so it's in the personal file.

Indeed, I haven't seen the 727 since last Novemeber. Since then, it's always been the 757.

Nice shots John! We had a few foreign visitors last week - perhaps due to the yearling sales at Saratoga. There was a United Arab Emirates BBJ (placed in a location that left me unable to get a shot) that was in town for a few days. Back in the 1980's they flew in a 747SP for the event a few times. I miss those days ...

I agree with your statement about not wanting to push your luck taking shots through the fence at Millionair, it's a too high traffic area to do anything but perhaps sneak a quick shot in. On the North side of the former Eclipse hangar, there is an electrical transformer that tempts me greatly. I'm sure that standing on top of it would present a nice view of the runway - but I'm chicken and there are other risk free locations.

Damn... I am jealous of the 727!! My sister lives a mile from the end of RWY 1 and I am up there at least once every two months and sometimes three times a month. I don;t always get a chance to spot but I have always seen the 727 on the ground :-( You go up on a whim and snag it in great light landing LOL. Very nice John!
