The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
I've been meaning to try it for months, since I stumbled on Ryan's blog. He has some absolutely incredible images done with it.
I'm just curious how you'd go about ensuring sharpness, especially when doing a portrait, as you have to be positive the subject doesn't move!

Here is a quickie
shoot the subject first and then go for the background... I will post more links soon.

Here is a good breakdown of how to do keep the subject sharp, Note the girl with the dress was a single shot and then the other shots were all background shots around her

kind of looks like what those tilt-shift lenses do
Been doing it for a long time, without the depth of field I shoot panoramas all the time, but never for this effect. Very cool, thanks for leading me down yet another rabbit hole with an ENTIRE WORLD behind it. Now I have to live to be 150 to enjoy all my hobbies after I retire!

BRING BACK THE KJFK/KLGA OBSERVATION DECKS
I am truly sorry Manny, I try very hard to find new ways to cheat at photography as I am not very good and need to cheat any way possible. Like the HDR thread I figured this would be yet another new technique threat that we can all grow together. I hope to have some more samples up soon as my lame attempt at my job is not a good example of the possibilities.

So I took my friend down to the beach and tried to do this.

Eric, that is awesome work! It helps when you have a great subject, but this shot is perfect in that you know where you are, a beach, but all the attention is on her.

Did you calculate what your "equivalent lens" was? http://brettmaxwellphoto.com/Brenize...d-Calculation/

So over my head, but the results are nothing short of stunning...
One of the things I have not touched base on with this method is that Noise is almost irrelevant as with so many megapixels, nose is no longer an issue. Here is a shot I took last night at 6400 iso to test this theory.... there is a full size link below so you can zoom in and see the noise that actually is in the image.
The depth of field is not stunning as I was too far from the aircraft with the 50mm 1.8 and was going to test more the noise than blurring.
