    YPPH Perth, Western Australia 18.07.11

Had the pleasure today to spend a couple of hours sitting under the approach to RWY 03 at Perth Airport, and here's a sample of what passedpassed my lens: The Qantas B747-438 VH-OJN is featured first carrying a 5th pod (Rolls Royce RB-211) off to Johannesburg, South Africa where sistership VH-OJL did #3 engine on Saturday the 16th July, the last photo was taken at Jandakot Airport its of a 80% full scale replica of a Supermarine Spitfire registered VH-SFG flying for 'The Wings of Life' an around Australia fund raising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service Enjoy!

Hello Hiflyer! Nice set of pictures there....the 747 with a 5th pod looks like it came right out of Derf's Photoshop thread. It's been so long since we've seen something like that here in the states, mainly because there are so few domestic 747's flying with US carriers.

That 747 carrying the 5th engine is just unreal. That is one awesome catch. And john, you're right, it does look like something Fred would do in PS.

Great shots. Always love the stuff you have from Perth.

So did you realize what you were looking at as you shot it? (the 5th engine?) Or did you only catch it later reviewing photos?

    WIld!
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

    Hi Mirrodie,

Yep we knew she was coming in ex: Sydney and looked brilliant landing with the 5th pod tucked in under her wing!
