    Eva Air begins Taipei-New York service

    Eva Air anounced yesterday it will begin new service from Taipei to New York on 10-31. So far it scheduled 4 flights per week, which are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Departure from TPE at 19:30, arrival JFK at 22:00. Departure from JFK at 23:50, arrival TPE at 07:20 next day.

    So they are dropping EWR, for JFK?

    Correct. They will start at JFK by 10/31/11, operating out of T1..

    Same times as the current EWR service. They've been flying 4/wk to Newark for years and years, and there's still not a single shot of Eva at Newark on JP or a.net. Wonder why they're moving across town. Might they be trying to go non-stop and they need the longer runway at JFK?

    They've already been going nonstop from EWR. It's not runway. I think they believe they'll get more business in the NYC because of the higher Asian population.

    You have more Asians in Queens, allot easier for them to get to jfk then the ewr. EWR works for manhattanites, but for brooklyn and queens it it is really out of the way compare to jfk. Makes sense to get closer to the customer base.
