KPVD 7/15/2011 - Nolan Ryan showed up

Since I had nothing to do after work tonight and the kids were staying with their grandmother I decided to head up to PVD for some evening spotting. The whole day the sun was out and it was beautiful, but that all changed when I got to the airport. For the first hour I was fighting clouds and rain, but after that it cleared up for the most part and I only had the sun hiding behind a few clouds here and there. The good thing about the rain that came through was the storm clouds being out east after it was done leaving me a good back drop for the planes.

Caught this after dinner when I realized there was still some light left in the sky

And then I went to the garage, but only got one.

The way you can see the different people in the last Southwest is really eerie. Great Pics!

Get those US 737's while they last. I was talking to US pilot in PHX and he said the plan was to phase them out by the years end.

Thanks guys! I thought yesterday was going to end up being some of the worse spotting conditions I've had all year, but they turned out to give me some of the best scenes I've ever had.

Jeremy - Thanks for the heads up on the US737s. I will have to get to PVD a little more often now to get some more of them since they have been flying mostly 737s into PVD lately.

I love those little guys too. They have one of the shortest final approaches I've seen at PVD. Those along with the Cape Air just come out of nowhere and swing in at the last second.
