    JFK 6/24, Inside Terminal 4

June 24 was exceptionally shi**y day weather wise as far as taking aircraft photos was concerned. 1-2 mile visibilities coupled with 400 foot ceilings and having to shoot through glass while avoiding reflections was difficult to say the least. At one point, those buildings in Far Rock had disappeared in the fog completely. Such was the beginning of my trip to Germany.

But I'll take any opportunity to photograph the heavy metal up close that I can get. Our 747 had a leading edge flap drive motor that needed replacing, or so they told us, so during the 2 hours it took to fix that, I stayed busy. After some brightness and color corrections, this was the best that could be done:

There was quite a queue that had built up, despite them shooting dual approaches to the 4's:

    Our ride arrives, "Cosmic Girl":

Caught this guy. Of course it had to be in horrible light. Anyone ever see this before? I think it was a charter? Departure board read it was going to Milan.

some nose art- "Ciudad De La Habana":

Thus ends the JFK part of our journey as we departed off 4L, the lines of congested traffic on Rockaway Blvd disappearing in the mist only seconds after rotating. More from Heathrow, and Hamburg, later. All I'll say now is that Hamburg has an observation deck. You know, like the one Kennedy used to have.

Nice variety....and nice catch on the Neos (I never saw it come to JFK, so it's a first for me....I'll have to be an eye out for it). I feel your pain from shooting inside terminals. Lots to contend with.........from reflections, tinted glass, dirty glass, etc.. I recall waiting for a connecting flight in RDU (Raleigh-Durham Airport) and was thinking of shooting some aircraft. Looking through the glass afar, everything looked fine, but when you got right up to the glass, all the glass panes had horizontal lines about a quarter inch thick or so (so no terminal spotting from RDU). DFW is another airport that is terrible for terminal spotting (tinted glass and never cleaned (in the American Airlines terminal).

Germany as a whole has more civil freedoms than we do in general... Never been north but have been to Munich a few times and also a former eastern block holdout (Meiningen) and boy, freedoms galore. Turnstiles on the subway (Bahn)? why when you can trust your citizens? etc. etc.

Enjoy the observation deck that Kennedy and LGA and Newark [should have] since they made them popular...

Now, to your great set of pictures... the NEOS just floored me. Never seen it, and as you said, it had to be ****ty weather LOL.

I though it was an error on my Planefiner app when i saw Neos the other night. Guess not and now i know what it looks like :)

Btw, love the set even if it was through terminal windows. I remember doing that while delayed on a connection thru PHL.

IIRC a couple of years back Neos was subbing for Aerosvit for the summer. That same year Air Finland was flying here regularly too.
