Thanks for posting, would have been even more interesting if he had the actual takeoff roll & abort but still interesting indeed.

Is it me or does the pilot sound stressed?

He was defineately stressed, on the frequency he was VERY confused after they completed the abort as well. His English became very struggled and broken. I cannot blame him... Their groundspeed was in the 130 range when they RTO'd and for those of you who have never had the chance real world or simulated to do a high speed abort it's a very physically stressful situation made worse by the fact that their abort is computed by avail runway length without obstruction on runway so to speak. So they were certainly working even harder. Even though autobrakes will automaticly take the spoilers to the full ground detent and start the braking. However, there are alot of airlines ( do not know if Lufty is one) that have it in the SOP that you must apply manual max braking. In order to actually apply max braking to a jet you have to actually stand on the toe brakes which entails actually lifting your rump out of the seat and using almost all of you lower body strength to get maximum effectiveness. There is a great example of a high speed abort on a relatively short runway on Youtube... A Finnair 757 someplace in India. As they turn off you can hear the pilot struggling to catch his breath while making his announcement. Don't have time to find it now but look it up.
Southwest Airlines-"Once it pop's it's time to stop" Southwest Airlines-"Our Shamu's are almost real" Southwest Airlines -"We blow our top real easy" Southwest Airlines- "You can't top us..... really"

interesting...are they not brake-by-wire in bigger airplanes? the falcon 900's have brake-by-wire and it's almost effortless to apply max braking assuming all systems are functioning properly.
