    KBDL 6-21-2011 (747-8F and 2 specials)

Thanks to Adam's thread post early in the day today I was able to scam my way out of working a full day today to head up to Windsor Locks to Bradley Intl for the arrival of the 747-8. Thanks Adam!!

Leaving work early to catch this was definitely worth it. I even got rewarded with two specials!

Started off with this guy. Jet Blue's 100th A320

    She arrives!

Thought the 747-8 was only going to be on the ground for 9 minutes, but she ended up sticking around for about a half hour or so. Caught these guys while waiting for the departure. A storm was approaching once I moved to the other side of the airport to catch the departure so the sun got blocked a few times.

First time I've ever caught this one

Finally the departure. She didn't waste anytime lifting off.

Thanks Adam! For the compliment and the tip off about her!

Mark - Thanks pal! You bet your a@@ cutting out of work early was well worth it. I grabbed the kids on my way there to show them what a big plane looks like since they thought that a CRJ200 was a huge plane. They got a kick out of it. Every time they saw headlights they yelled "dad here it comes!" even if it wasn't the 747-8. What more could I ask for skipping out of work early? I got to spend more time with the kids, see the 747-8 in person and see some specials!

    Thanks Bill!

Kaz, Mark, Gene - Thanks! I appreciate the compliments.

And Mark, I was surprised to see a Frontier ERJ rolling down the runway. Forgot they had those.

    Great catch Steve.
I'm hoping those 15 anonymous orders at the Paris Airshow are from Cathay Pacific.
I am so looking forward to seeing these turn a long final to 22L for many years to come.
Hopefully it would also give the 747-8 program the "Kick in the A**" it needs to get the orders rolling.

Love the 748 departure shot, especially with the gear doors closing. Glad you drove up to document it and it's cool your kids enjoyed the planes and roadtrip to, quality time like that is so "Priceless" !
